Mark Powell leads the RICS major strategic enterprise, the RICS Schools of Built Environment, which is delivering RICS accredited courses from two campuses, one in Noida and the other in Mumbai. This is the first time RICS has been directly involved in the provision of real estate and construction courses and is providing undergraduate and postgraduate programs to build the next generation of property professionals in India. Mark is also leading RICS thinking around further opportunities for expanding our education offering to other markets.
Prior to that, Mark led the RICS Product Development Directorate where he was responsible for providing a complete range of RICS product and service propositions globally, to assist individuals into membership, develop their careers and provide the tools and services they need on a day-to-day basis. This included training, conferences, publications, on line services and alternative dispute resolution.
Mark joined RICS in April 2009, where his initial focus was to develop and launch RICS Training, providing face-to-face training courses and distance and e-learning courses through the RICS Online Academy. Shortly after that Mark took on responsibility for RICS National Conferences and in September 2010 became Executive Director of Product Development.
Before joining RICS, Mark held senior roles in Ernst and Young, ICL (Fujitsu) and BPP Professional Education.
Mark holds a non-executive role as a member of the Governing Council and Management Board with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), a professional body operating in the finance sector. Mark is a retired helicopter pilot and volunteers as a Scout Leader in his local village.
