Prof. Abhijit Shirodkar

Prof. Abhijit Shirodkar graduated from Sir J. J. College of Architecture in the year 1984 and completed his post graduation in Architecture from the University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee) with the University Gold Medal, a couple of years later. After practicing in Mumbai for about two years, he moved to Gondia (in Vidarbha, Maharashtra) where he joined as the first architect Lecturer at the Department of Architecture, M.I.E.T.                                                                                    
He rose to the post of a Professor in 1995, was the Head of the Department for three years and served the Institute and Nagpur University for 27 long years in various academic and administrative capacities, before moving on to Amity School of Architecture & Planning, Amity University, Mumbai in September 2015. At Amity University Mumbai he currently serves as the Director, Amity School of Architecture & Planning & Director, Amity School of Built Environment and he has also completed year long stints as the Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor and Controller of Examinations. 

During his tenure at Gondia he also did his graduation in Law from Nagpur University (standing 2nd in the University) and then went on to do his Post-Graduate Diploma in Consumer Laws from the same University, with a Gold Medal again.

Prof. Shirodkar was conferred with a Scroll of Honour for his outstanding contribution to the cause of architectural education and profession by the Nagpur Centre of the Indian Institute of Architects in the year 2002. He has been invited to conduct workshops, deliver lectures and also as an examiner by various Institutes and Universities. He has also been elected and nominated on different bodies of IIA and served as a member of inspection committees of the Council of Architecture as well. 

He has written several papers on architecture and allied topics, guided students at post-graduate levels and was an approved Ph.D. supervisor of Nagpur University and presently of Amity University Mumbai.

He has been running a successful architectural and interior design practice, for over two and a half decades, undertaking projects in and around the cities of Nagpur and Gondia.
