The Built Environment sector is responsible for nearly 40% of carbon emissions and energy consumption, 50% of all extracted materials, 33% of water consumption and 35% of waste generated. A sustainable built environment addresses environmental-societal issues, including energy security, resilience, equity, water and waste management, health, and well-being. These issues are at the center of creating sustainable habitats and cities which are equitable and affordable to all sections of society.
