Gautam Pant is an Associate Professor at School of Construction. Professor Pant is a Fulbright Scholar and has worked for over 16 years at NTPC Ltd. the largest power generating utility in India.
During his tenure with NTPC, he has worked in various areas pertaining to civil engineering and construction (site supervision, Planning, design, estimation and quality) and HR (learning and development, human resource development, performance management and knowledge management).
The work responsibility of Prof. Pant included distinguished assignments to assist two Executive Directors in HR domain and the Chairman and Managing Director of NTPC. In addition to working as an administrative hand of the two Executive Directors, the work responsibility in these positions included providing intellectual inputs directly to these leaders, while designing their communications for various forums / occasions.
Professor Pant also undertook various organizational development assignments for the Corporate Quality Assurance Department and for Power Management Institute (PMI), the apex learning and development body of NTPC. His work on system standardization and improvements in the Quality Assurance Department earned him two appreciation certificates from General Manager, Quality Assurance (Civil). Professor Pant evaluated and improved upon the Quality Assurance and Quality Control specifications for thermal and hydro power projects being undertaken by NTPC and has served as an internal project auditor as well as an external auditor for works of various vendors. He designed and compiled a Quality Assurance Handbook for civil works to facilitate learning of new recruits and working of quality professionals in the areas of civil engineering.
Professor Pant is credited with revamping the knowledge management systems in NTPC and was instrumental in redesigning the knowledge management strategy for the company.
Professor Pant was a faculty on topics related to HR, Communication & Quality at PMI He has been a Guest Faculty at Institute of Secretariat Training & Management (ISTM), BULMIN, SBPPSE, DMS (Kumaon Univ.), GBPUAT. He has designed and conducted workshops on Knowledge Management and Quality Management systems for various locations within NTPC.
