The inaugural ceremony of the World Green Building Week 2021 took place on Monday, 20th September 2021, at 2:00 P.M. in Hybrid Mode. This endeavour was spearheaded by the Student Learning, Innovation and Networking Group, [S.L.I.N.G.], the official student body of RICS School of Built Environment, Amity University. To inaugurate the event we had with us, Mr V Suresh, Ms Payal Jain and Ar. Jit Kumar Gupta. Mr V Suresh is the current chairman of the Indian Green Building Council and had earlier served as CMD of Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd (HUDCO). He served as the Chairman of the IGBC Policy and Advocacy Committee. Ms Payal Jain, daughter of the Late Dr Prem C Jain, former Chairman of the Prem Jain Memorial Trust, a foundation with a mission to identify future leaders and be a catalyst for the global development of sustainability. The keynote speaker of the day was Ar. Jit Kumar Gupta. He has a professional and academic experience, spanning over 52 years in policy planning, architectural education, urban planning and green built environment as founder Director, COA, Bhaddal and Past-Advisor Town Planning, PUDA. He holds Fellowship of Institute of Town Planners; Institute of Architects, and Senior Fellow, Indian Green Building Council. The event began with a lamp lighting ceremony followed by our three guest speakers.
On day-4 of the ‘World Green Building Week-21’, a bunch of events were planned and executed successfully by the [S.L.I.N.G], Noida. Following is the list and a brief description of all the events that happened on day-4-
1. Riddlers- Riddlers was an up-to-the-minute puzzling event for all the brainiacs out there. The questions were based on ‘Sustainability in Built Environment’ and consisted of all possible combinations of puzzling including pictures, jumbled words, and quizzes. There was active participation with lots of fun and learning. The event was open to all postgraduate and undergraduate students pursuing Architecture, Construction or Real Estate. This event was organized by the Sports vertical of [S.L.I.N.G], Noida.
2. Tug of Words- This was a debate competition organized by the Debate Society of [S.L.I.N.G], Noida. The theme for debate was ‘Can Sustainability and development go hand in hand?’. It was indeed a great debating event with lots of points and arguments put forward by the participants. The winner won prize money of Rs. 1000 and the runner up, Rs. 500. Each participant was given 3 minutes to present their points and opinions, for or against the theme announced.
3. Poster Presentation- This event was all about showcasing creativity, unique thinking and presenting the same in front of the audience and judges. The theme for this event was “Resilience Focus on People”. It was a team event with a maximum of 2 in a team. This was organized by the SFS club of [S.L.I.N.G], Noida. The prize money for the- • Winner: Rs. 1100/- • Runner-up: Rs. 700/-
4. Startcon- Startcon was a Start-up pitch competition, organized by Built-Tank E-Cell, an initiative to promote entrepreneurship in the built environment sector. The participating teams were required to present “120 SECONDS PRESENTATION” related to a Start-up idea in the field of Sustainability in the Built Environment Sector. The event was designed to encourage and reward the early-stage business ideas and business models contributing towards sustainable innovative solutions in the built environment sector. The theme for this event was “Start-up Ideas Catering To Circular Economy In Built Environment”. The participants were allowed to participate in teams of 2 each and were given 120 seconds to convince the judges about their pitch. This event was organized by the Built-Tank, E-Cell of RICS SBE, Noida. The prize money for this event was as follows: • Winner: Rs. 1500/- • First Runner-up: Rs. 1000/- • Second Runner-up: Rs. 1000/-
