The objective of this session was to give students an insight into the built environment sector and its growth in the country; practical aspects of working in this field, coupled with an opportunity to meet some of their future employers.
Nimish Gupta, Adjunct Professor at the School anchored this session which saw several industry experts share their experiences of working in this sector and career growth stories. Er. A.K. Srivastava, Director of Amity School of Urban Management gave opening remarks followed by introduction to the panel which consisted of Sachin Sandhir, MD, RICS South Asia, Anshul Jain, CEO, DTZ, Jogy Thomas, CEO, ATS Infrastructure, and Dr. Deepak Bajaj, Director of Investments and Projects.
Whilst Dr. Bajaj talked about the importance of RICS standards in the global market, Jogy Thomas shared that real estate has a lot of other dimensions apart from civil engineering and construction. It involves planning, management and understanding of finance and many more aspects that are required of professionals in the sector, which the School will equip the students with.
Anshul Jain hosted a quiz on the industry with prizes for correct answers. He later urged students to be humble and honest to the profession, even at the peak of their careers. Closing the session, Sachin Sandhir re-iterated the need for skilled professionals and assured students of a bright future in this field.
At the end, the students had the opportunity to ask questions. Their queries focused on the issue of regulation in real estate, finance and investments and the growth of the sector.
Prof. KT Ravindran, Dean Emeritus, thanked the panel for their time and promised that the School will continue to give students many more such opportunities to interact with future employers.
