Dr. Kulkarni’s research interests include seismic behaviour of reinforced concrete systems, viscoelastic dampers, sustainable construction, green buildings, carbon estimation and digital decision-support tools for the built environment. She also serves as a peer reviewer for reputed scholarly journals.
A key current initiative is BuildCarbonIQ, a digital carbon-estimation and decision-support concept for building projects. The initiative builds on her postgraduate research into region-specific carbon estimation and focuses on local emission factors, BOQ integration, practical decision support and improved adoption by project stakeholders.
Her teaching philosophy combines case-based learning, experiential activities, simulations, role plays, workshops, live industry problems and technology-enabled pedagogy. She has designed and delivered advanced learning experiences in FIDIC contracts, claims and change management, project finance, procurement, construction risk, safety and international measurement practices.
Dr. Kulkarni actively promotes industry-academia collaboration through expert sessions, curriculum enrichment, professional engagement and student mentoring. Her professional vision is to develop future-ready built environment leaders who can integrate technical, commercial, contractual, financial, digital and sustainability competencies with ethical and responsible project delivery.
