384 students receive their degrees in third Convocation Ceremony

With four successful years of imparting specialized education in Noida and one year in Mumbai, our specialized school has made its place as a hub of quality talent in Indian industry. Our journey of shaping young bright minds into specialized built environment professionals is marked with important milestones. One of those is the Convocation Ceremony 2017.



This year, on 10 November, 384 young graduates received their professional management degrees in real estate, construction and infrastructure. This occasion was graced with the presence of Sean Tompkins - Chief Executive Officer, RICS, John Hughes - President, RICS, Mark Powell – Executive Director, Product Development, RICS, Sachin Sandhir - Global Managing Director, RICS South Asia and Ashwani Awasthi - Chief Operating Officer, RICS SBE.

The event started with the ceremonial procession on the Amity University grounds with flag bearers and pied pipers followed by prayers and lighting of lamp – a symbol of knowledge. This was followed by conferring Honorary Professorship to John Hughes by Amity University in the presence of Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity University; Dr. Atul K Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University; Dr. Aseem K Chauhan, Chancellor AUR; Prof. Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University.

A day of firsts

There were many firsts that marked this occasion. One of our first Ph.D student Prof. Ritu Ahuja received her doctorate degree in Built Environment. She is an Assistant Professor in School of Construction at RICS School of Built Environment. This was followed by degree distribution to MBA and BBA students. Our first batch of MBA in Infrastructure Management received their degrees along with the first batch of PG Diploma in Facilities Management. It was a proud moment for each of three Schools of RICS SBE.


Speaking on the occasion, Sean Tompkins said, “A big thank you to our academic faculty at RICS School of Built Environment, Amity University, Noida, New Delhi. You have helped 384 students graduate this year in real estate, property management, infrastructure and construction. You have motivated, nurtured and inspired the next generation in India who will help the smart cities vision become a reality. Thank you.”


After a collective lunch of faculty, alumni and their parents, degrees were conferred to alumni students in the presence of Dr. Sean Tompkins, CEO, RICS; Mr. John Hughes, President, RICS; Sachin Sandhir, GMD – Emerging Business, RICS; Prof. KT Ravindran FRICS, Dean Emeritus, RICS SBE; Er. A.K. Srivastava MRICS, HOI and all the three Directors, namely, Mr. Sunil Agarwal FRICS, Associate Dean & Director, School of Real Estate; Prof. Dr. Joseph V Thanikal, Associate Dean & Director, School of Construction; and Prof. DTV Raghu Rama Swamy MRICS, Director, School of Infrastructure and Director, Research and Institutional Consultancy.

Awards & Recognition

We also issued a Completion Certificate to all alumni along with awards for each branch in the following categories:

  • •    Best Capstone project
  • •    Best All Rounder

RICS President’s Award for Academic Excellence was won by Mr Neeraj Tulsani, BBA REUI student. It was also announced that as part of RICS 150th anniversary celebrations during 2018, a student from RICS School of Built Environment, Amity University will be awarded the RICS 150th Overall Academic Excellence Award along with INR 1,50,000 as prize money.
