Raghav holds a B. Tech (Electrical & Electronics) from Galgotias College Of Engineering & Technology. We asked him some questions about his journey with the school. We hope you enjoy reading this Q &A. Q1. What kind of career did you aspire to have when you joined RICS SBE? When I joined RICS SBE, I did not have any knowledge about construction industry. Neither did I have any clear goals towards my career. I knew I wanted to join this industry but didn't know what role I would fit in. After completing 1 year in school I have realized that I want to become a manager with a PMC firm and do planning and management of different projects. Q2. What kind of preparation did you go through before the internship process started? The school provided us a special training program for a week. After that session, the faculty conducted mock interviews - the results of which helped us know our weakness as well as strengths so that we could prepare ourselves before joining any corporate firm. Q3. What were your thoughts on the kind of companies who were on campus for internships? Most of the companies were Fortune 500 companies and I feel that I am lucky enough to get the opportunity to work for one of these companies in near future. Q4. How was your experience interviewing with potential employers? What kind of self-preparation you did; what kind of questions you were asked by employers? The experience was good; I revised all the subjects taught by our faculties in semester 1 & 2. Our faculty asked us to prepare on generic questions such as - what is project management; what are the software used in a PMC; what are the important factors which affect any construction project; basics of MS-Project and Primavera etc. My employer asked most of these questions from me during telephonic interview. Q5. What all firms did you interview with? What are your thoughts/views about the firm you are interning with? What kind of projects do you want to work on / skills do you want to gain, in your internship period? I was interviewed by Unitech & CBRE. I am now interning with CBRE PM and it feels great to work with CBRE because of their great professionalism and work culture. I want to work upon interior fit-out projects and advance myself on MS-Project, MS-excel and other it tools used in this industry to manage projects. I want to get an exposure to the whole process from starting of the project to its closure. Q6. How have been your early days in the real world? Early days were good as the HR team as well as the whole CBRE team at Hyderabad were very friendly and helped me to adapt within the company as well as within the new city. They helped me to find a decent dwelling near to the office.
