Mithil Haldankar Civil Engineer MBA CEQS 2014-16 Placed as Quantity Surveyor at SPCL Dubai Mithil Haldankar got placed in the Qatar division of Shapoorji Pallonji International after doing his MBA CEQS from RICS SBE. He narrates the journey that made him achieve this. I come from a middle class nuclear family living in Mumbai. My childhood dream was to be a pilot! But soon I got spectacles and that dream went for a toss. Eventually when I grew up, I was fascinated by tall buildings. This fascination brought me in the field of Built Environment and now I’ve decided to dedicate my life in this field. Why I chose an MBA in CEQS at RICS SBE I was working with Tata Housing as an Assistant QS. I had the technical skills but lacked the managerial skills. I found out about this course offered by RICS SBE and I felt that it was tailor made for me. Also, I was attracted to the RICS brand which I hoped would expose me to international best practices. My learning experience here I had a great learning experience under some of the distinguished faculty viz. Dr. Anil Sawhney, Prof. Nimish Gupta, Prof. Vinod Nakra, Prof. Nihar Nanyam, Dr. Vanita Ahuja, Prof. Anupam Jain to name a few who are industry experts in their respective fields. Guest lectures and Industrial visits supplemented the education given in the classroom. Other than studies, SBE provided me with opportunities to participate in extra-curricular activities such as sports. I was also part of the team which formed the student’s body SLING. I interned at Sweett Group’s head office in Chennai. I got to learn about all the services offered by a cost consultant in India. Overall, it was a rich learning experience for me. An amazing placement experience My placement experience was quite amazing. The school had organized one to one interaction sessions with Mr. Prabhat Rakheja who was a Senior VP in Shapoorji Pallonji International. This interaction was the turning point for me as Mr. Rakheja, after finding out that I was the class topper having industry experience and a will to work on international projects, recommended me to the MD of Shapoorji Pallonji International, Mr. M. D. Saini. Soon I got a call from their HR head who interviewed me on the phone itself! And within a week of that call, I was offered a job at their firm in Qatar. Mr. Rakheja and our dean Dr. Anil Sawhney guided me in this process and helped me take the decision of accepting the job offer. So basically I was placed before the placement session began at the school and I’m very happy about it. I completely recommend this institution Anyone who wants a career in real estate should definitely study at RICS SBE as they have a very distinguished faculty with industry experience and the curriculum is industry led and based on the lines of top MBA colleges like the IIMs. The classroom teaching is supplemented with guest lectures and site visits and of course, a very important factor is that this is an RICS accredited course and you get guidance on how to become MRICS I am so glad that I made my decision to go for a specialized MBA rather than a generic one as it will help me to achieve my goal of being one of the youngest MD & CEO in an MNC.
